Roaming Coach

Hi everyone!  I was introduced to volleyball in 6th grade, watching my cousin play at her club tournaments and attended a volleyball camp that Summer, as well.  I started playing for Klahowya Secondary School in 7th grade and was hooked.  Volleyball became my passion and was the only sport for me.  I played all through middle school and high school and in addition played club volleyball through my 4 years of high school.  I have played outside hitter and middle hitter in both club and high school, as well as a defensive specialist and a libero on Olympic College’s team in 2017.  So, I have a well-rounded knowledge of the different positions.  I coached my first year of club two seasons ago and loved coaching the girls, teaching them, and watching them grow as volleyball players.  I always wanted to be a coach, because I’ve been told that I am enthusiastic, optimistic, and very encouraging towards my teammates and younger girls.  I look forward to coaching again this year and I’m excited to see what this season has to offer!  I am also very excited to be a Head Coach this year, as I have learned a ton from Wayne and Angelina and other Kitsap Select Coaches over the past three years.

She played 4 years of varsity volleyball and 3 years of club volleyball in high school as a setter. She earned all - district honors, set an assist record, and was recruited to play in college. Though she ultimately decided not to play in college, she never lost her passion for the game and continued to play competitively in leagues and tournaments. Club volleyball was always her favorite, and she can't wait to be involved again.  In her spare time, she loves traveling, playing board games, and going to concerts and sporting events with her husband and friends.

In high school, I was team leader in 2009 in assists, and aces, earning Team MVP, All-Region in my final three years and was an All-State performer as a Junior in 2008.  During high school, I played travel ball for A5 (the top team in Georgia and the 2nd ranked team in the nation). Playing under Bob Westbrook and receiving open bids to nationals allowed the opportunity for college coaches to see and recruit me. I received a full ride to the University of Mobile where I graduated with a degree in Athletic Training. During my years at University of Mobile,I was named Southern States Athletic Conference All Tournament team 2014, All Team Conference 2nd team, and Academic Team 2014.  I currently hold multiple records that include the highest amount of assists (3,249), second in assists per year (1,363), and  current holder in highest single-match assists totals with 62 against Brenau and 59 against Union. Other stats include 11 matches with 40+ assists in 2012 and 51 assists and 20 digs v. Spring Hill. I was named Southern States Athletic Conference player of the week October 12, 2013, Sept 28, 2013, and Sept 22, 2013. My love of the game has never stopped. I continued coaching as head coach, assistant coach, and providing private lessons in the summers with A5, volley performance, volley for Christ, and training camps with University of Mobile. Being new to the area I just started coaching with the Poulsbo Park and Rec department and am very excited to coach for this club team. I am looking forward to developing skills and passions for the game of volleyball.

Hello everyone - I’m Natalie Krucek and I was born and raised in Kitsap County. I grew up running through my 5 acres of woods behind my house with my childhood dogs. I’ve always been down for a good adventure and some tree climbing. Once I reached Jr. High, my hobbies developed into speed skating, Jr. Drag racing and any school sports I could be apart of. Once I started volleyball, I was hooked and continued throughout high school. In the beginning of 2017 I started working for Bainbridge Island Parks and Rec District; which gave me the opportunity to coach my first team. That brought back the beauty and passion I held so dear for this sport. Being a coach is the most rewarding feeling in the world – knowing that every time I go to work, I strengthen our future leaders to become the best players they can be. The sport not only helps develop their athletic skills, but help shape their confidence and leadership qualities. I always bring strong positive energy and support for my team both on and off the court. I’m very enthusiastic! At my practices, I like to make sure we work on personal skills drills – making sure everyone finds their rhythm at their own pace. Team building exercises – to become stronger together and create clear, open lines of communication. I like to include fun group games and activities, because there is always time to be silly! But most importantly, I always make time for group discussion; Setting personal and group goals is very important. At the end of the day I want to instill the greatness within all my players. I’m very excited to continue on with volleyball and to create new connections.

Hello! My name is Annyssia Arthur, I am a mom to a sweet little boy and have an amazing fiance (soon to be husband in March!) I started playing volleyball in 4th grade and fell head over heels in love with the sport immediately. I played on school and rec teams growing up and through high school, until I tore my shoulder and had to have a total reconstructive surgery on it. I have coached a few recreational teams and thought, since I love volleyball and have a passion for children and teaching, why not combine the two and coach a competitive team! I cant wait to share my passion and love for the sport with everyone and hopefully watch these young players blossom!

Nathan has been a Kitsap resident for five years, but he grew up in Northern Thailand. He loves all sports and is especially fond of softball, golf, and volleyball. He has played volleyball all his life, though it was mostly recreational, as it was not available for him as a Varsity sport in High School or College. During his Undergrad though, he lettered in track as a Pole Vaulter instead. He played volleyball for the University of Washington Men’s club volleyball team during law school for two years between 2010-2011, mostly as an outside hitter. Nathan was a positional coach last season and assisted the Kitsap VBC U16 team two seasons ago as a team chaperone and assistant instructor during practices.

I Graduated from SKHS in 1989 and Eastern Washington University in 1994 with a BA Ed, I got my Masters in Education in 2001 from Heritage University.  I've taught PE and coached in the SK School District for 23 years. I have a  terrific wife Jennifer and three great kids, Taylor 23, Aaron 21, and Hallie 17.  After learning the game of volleyball from my lovely wife Jennifer at Eastern Washington University, I've grown to love this great sport. Years of playing and coaching this great game have taught me a lot about myself as a player and coach. I am blessed to have coached so many amazing athletes in my career and I am proud of the program that I have created at SKHS.  When, I started, we had only 15 returning players and now have 4 teams of 48 girls.  There is no greater sport to learn about teamwork and how to gel as a group for a common goal. If you play FOR each other, you can accomplish anything as a team!

Tarrah Carver lives, eats and breathes volleyball all year long.  Volleyball is literally her passion in life!  She shares this passion with her three daughters, where they all play and she coaches multiple places all year long, both on the court and on the beach.  She is very energetic, caring, knowledgeable, goal orientated, organized, detailed, super passionate and she absolutely loves working with youth athletes, which makes her an amazing coach! This time of the year, she has 4 to 8 hours of volleyball in her life every night of the week.  Once you meet Tarrah, you will see her love for the game and desire to help build youth athletes into Elite players, as it just pours out of her.

Hi, I’m Coach Marianne. I just graduated from high school and I am ready to offer a fresh outlook on how our teams will play the amazing and competitive game of volleyball. I have played volleyball for 6 years and have been a varsity athlete since the start. I’ve enjoyed being part of a team as a player and can’t wait to be part of a team again, but to lead and educate and share what I have learned over the past years, as a coach. I was the team captain my Senior year and know the importance of having a proper leader role. I am ready to lead your young volleyball athletes to success on and off the court. Hello! My name is Laura and I was born and raised in Seattle and currently reside in Kitsap County. I have loved volleyball since 5th grade, when I first set foot on the court. My middle school team took the State Championship home in 2004 and have been the only team to do so for my school ever. I played 3 years of High School Varsity volleyball as a middle blocke, before an injury took me off  the court. That is when my passion for coaching came to life; returning to my high school coach and learning as much as I could from him. He taught me patience, resilience and techniques to reach the girls on all of their levels. As a coach, I am active on the court during drills, goal oriented and strive for team unity on and off the court. Starting as a Middle School coach was a blessing as it made me realize every person is different and unique. It has taught me to find the qualities in these girls that make them strive for greatness. I feel like I bring a variety of knowledge to share with my players, as a coach, because I was a player first. Then, I have coach at multiple levels of volleyball and fell that I have mastered them all.
I am coaching volleyball this Fall at Poulsbo Parks n Rec and this experience brought me back to the very beginning and basics of volleyball. Realizing everyone learns at different speeds and retains information differently. My goal as a coach is to not only pass on my love and knowledge of this sport, but to also
make this team a safe space for these players.
I look forward to my first year as a select coach and cannot wait to pass on my love for volleyball.

Hey guys, I’m Coach Holly!! I grew up with 3 older brothers & sports meant the absolute world to us (soccer, basketball, baseball etc.)!! I fell in love with volleyball when I was younger watching my older cousins kill it on the court. I started playing when I was in junior high and continued through high school at the varsity level and was given the role of team captain each step of the way! Each year I got better and better and learned so much from each coach I came in contact with in high school and at Kitsap VBC. My first year of club volleyball was absolutely crazy and a whole new world for me. I absolutely loved it and grew me as a volleyball player, I made a ton of friends and learned a lot of valuable life lessons too!! I started off as an outside hitter...not sure why, cause I’m a 5’4 shorty with no hops.  But eventually, I transitioned to libero and spent most of my time at Olympic High School and Kitsap VBC in that position. It amazes me to look back and see the impact club had on my skills & I can’t wait to be apart of these girls journey to do the same! I’ve made memories of a lifetime and I know you guys will too! I look forward to coaching this season!!! See you guys on the court🏐

Hello all! My name is Helaina Hilligoss. I was born in Oregon, but raised and currently reside in Kitsap county. I started playing volleyball when I was twelve years old and it’s always been my favorite sport! I fell in love with the game in middle school and then went on to play for Bremerton High School. I was on the varsity team throughout my high school career and I was the captain for two of those years! Starting out, I was our libero but in my senior year I was moved over to play setter. Even though I miss playing, helping out at our summer camp definitely takes the cake. Being apart of someone’s else’s learning experiences is so special and important to me, and I love watching the improvement after learning new skills and techniques. Seeing how the players can not only believe in themselves but take pride their hard work too!
Currently I work at JohnsonLink Orthodontics as a Dental Assistant where I am also CPR certified, and I can honestly say I love going to work everyday! I knew this would be my career path since I was thirteen years old, so you can see I have a drive for my passions.
I’m couldn’t be more excited or ready to be apart of Kitsap Select! See you all on the court!
